91 CRONACHE DA UN CANTIERE GIORGIO GRANDI RPBW – Renzo Piano Building Workshop CHRONICLES FROM A CONSTRUCTION SITE In this project, both the client (EMERGENCY) and the architectural designers (RPBW/TAM) were able to play a role that was somewhat new, or at least different, from typical professional relationships. In fact, EMERGENCY, in its capacity as final user, had a very clear picture of the needs, and therefore of the organization of the functions and health protocols to be implemented for the Ugandan hospital, based on its enormous experience in the “field”. However, the organization also played the role of general contractor, intervening in the construction process, in the coordination of works, in the management of time/economic resources and in the direction of the work site, and this was made possible by the technical and professional skills of its representatives. In questo progetto, sia il cliente (EMERGENCY) sia i progettisti architettonici (RPBW/TAM) hanno potuto svolgere un ruolo per alcuni aspetti inedito, o perlomeno diverso, rispetto all’abituale rapporto professionale. EMERGENCY infatti, nella propria veste di utilizzatore finale, aveva ben chiaro il quadro dei bisogni, quindi dell’organizzazione delle funzioni e dei protocolli sanitari da adottare per l’ospedale ugandese, in forza della propria enorme esperienza sul “campo”. L’organizzazione ha però giocato anche il ruolo proprio del general contractor, intervenendo nei processi costruttivi, nel coordinamento dei lavori, nella gestione dei tempi/risorse economiche e nella direzione del cantiere, e questo grazie alla capacità tecnica e professionale dei suoi rappresentanti.
