75 It is our duty to share the best results we have achieved in all fields, from architecture to medicine, in order to give a very strong signal: we want to offer everyone the chance to access what are universal rights, because the word “universal” cannot exclude anyone. EMERGENCY has been developing this principle for over 25 years. The new hospital in Uganda, so outrageously beautiful, has precisely the intention of stating that we did not go there to pitch four tents and distribute medicines, but to bring the best of pediatric surgery with all that is needed in terms of structure, equipment, technology and knowledge. This is the way one should help foreign populations “in their own homeland”, that is, sharing rights, especially in the field of medicine and care, because being cared for and wellbeing are the precondition for any human activity. Il nuovo ospedale in Uganda, così scandalosamente bello, ha proprio l’intenzione di affermare che non siamo andati là a piantare quattro tende e distribuire farmaci, ma a portare il meglio della chirurgia pediatrica con tutto quello che è necessario in termini di struttura, equipaggiamenti, tecnologia e conoscenza. Questo è il modo nel quale si dovrebbe aiutare “a casa loro”, ovvero condividendo i diritti, soprattutto nel campo della medicina e della cura, perché essere curati, stare bene, è la condizione preliminare per ogni attività umana.
