67 In order to reach the quality level required in our hospitals, wehad to importmanymaterials from Italy, facing the risks connected to this choice: if you aremissing something, you know you are thousands of kilometers and months away from the supplier who can provide it, and unwise logistics management can lead to heavy downtime. Over time we have learned that it is essential to maintain this function too within the FOD Logistic Division, which also played a key role in this project. Building the second chapter of ANME, and the first EMERGENCY hospital in Africa, was a very difficult challenge, which we were able to win thanks to the unity of purpose between us, the designers, and the companies that enabled us to complete it. Per raggiungere il livello di qualità richiesto nei nostri ospedali, abbiamo dovuto importare molti materiali dall’Italia, affrontando i rischi collegati a questa scelta: se ti manca qualcosa, sai di essere a migliaia di chilometri e mesi di trasporto dal fornitore che te lo può procurare, e una gestione non accorta della logistica può determinare dei pesanti fermo cantiere. Nel tempo abbiamo imparato che è fondamentale mantenere anche questa funzione all’interno della Logistic Division del FOD, che anche in questo progetto ha svolto un ruolo chiave.
