65 The first mock-up of the earthen wall was carried out in 2014, and construction began in 2017. It was thus possible to verify the durability of the design choices over time. In addition to TAMassociati, other Italian companies participated in the project. Zintek believed in us from the beginning, creating a mock-up for some parts of the roofing that we were able to study with the designers: this choice allowed us to proceed smoothly during operations on site. The construction, which lasted three years and was completed in March 2020, was managed – as with our other hospitals – by the EMERGENCY Building and Technical Division, which separately outsourced structural works to a Ugandan company and the finishing and systems to Italian ones. Up to 50 Italian technicians and workers worked on the site, alongside more than 200 Ugandan workers and technicians. Il primo mock-up del muro in terra è stato fatto nel 2014, e la costruzione è partita nel 2017. Si è così potuta verificare la durabilità nel tempo delle scelte progettuali. Oltre a TAMassociati, anche altre realtà italiane hanno partecipato al progetto. Zintek ci ha creduto da subito, realizzando un mock-up per alcune parti delle coperture che abbiamo potuto studiare con i progettisti: questa scelta ci ha permesso di procedere senza intoppi durante le operazioni in cantiere. La costruzione, che è durata tre anni e si è conclusa a marzo 2020, è stata gestita – come per gli altri ospedali – con una direzione di cantiere e dei lavori della Building e Technical Division di EMERGENCY, che ha appaltato distintamente i lavori strutturali a un’impresa ugandese e finiture e impianti a imprese italiane. Nel cantiere hanno lavorato fino a 50 tecnici e operai italiani, al fianco di oltre 200 operai e tecnici ugandesi.
