61 Entebbe Hospital L’ospedale di Entebbe The story of this project started almost immediately after the opening of the first ANME center (African Network for Medical Excellence, aiming to promote the construction of medical centers of excellence in Africa, affirming the right of every human being to receive free and high quality care), the Salam Centre in Khartoum, Sudan, which aroused great interest from the Ugandan government in our work. At first, the Ugandan authorities did not understand why we were asking for a particularly beautiful and accessible piece of land on which to build the hospital, but, after visiting the heart surgery center in Khartoum, they decided not only to comply with our request, but also to participate immediately in the construction costs. La storia di questo progetto è partita quasi subito dopo l’apertura del primo centro della ANME (AfricanNetwork forMedical Excellence, che ha l’obiettivo di promuovere in Africa la costruzione di centri medici di eccellenza, affermando il diritto di ogni essere umano a ricevere cure gratuite e di elevata qualità), il Salam Centre di Khartoum, in Sudan, che ha suscitato nel governo dell’Uganda un grande interesse per il nostro lavoro. All’inizio, le autorità ugandesi non capivano perché chiedessimo un terreno particolarmente bello e accessibile dove far sorgere l’ospedale, ma, dopo aver visitato il centro di cardiochirurgia a Khartoum, hanno deciso non solo di assecondare la nostra richiesta ma anche di partecipare da subito ai costi di costruzione.
