GINO STRADA Fondatore e Direttore Esecutivo di EMERGENCY Founder and Executive Director of EMERGENCY Italian surgeon specialized in emergency surgery, since the late ‘80s Gino Strada has been directing his interests towards trauma surgery and the treatment of war victims, working in conflict zones. These experiences in the field led him in 1994 to found the humanitarian association EMERGENCY, promoter of a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights, which in over 25 years of activity has treated more than 11 million people free of charge. In 2015 he became the first Italian in history to receive the Right Livelihood Prize, better knownas the “alternativeNobel”, inStockholm. Chirurgo italiano specializzato in chirurgia d’urgenza, dalla fine degli anni ‘80 Gino Strada indirizza i propri interessi verso la chirurgia traumatologica e la cura delle vittime di guerra, lavorando in zone di conflitto. Queste esperienze sul campo lo spingono a fondare nel 1994 l’associazione umanitaria EMERGENCY, promotrice di una cultura di pace, solidarietà e rispetto dei diritti umani, che in oltre 25 anni di attività ha curato gratuitamente più di 11 milioni di persone. Nel 2015 è il primo italiano nella storia del Premio a ricevere a Stoccolma il Right Livelihood, meglio conosciuto come il “Nobel alternativo”.
