In order tomeet the functional requirements of the project and at the same time avoid termite attacks, the choice fell on a roofing package without ventilation gaps, also thanks to the fact that most of the solar radiation is screened by the upper umbrella roof. The zintek® slabs have a seaming pitch of 478.5 mm, which is a submultiple of the main structural mesh, according to the concept of modularity that is regarded so highly by Renzo Piano. The zintek® material can be walked upon, in compliance with UNI 10372:2004 and is resistant to UV rays, as well as to wind erosion, thanks to a density of 7.14 Kg/dmc. During the development stages of the project, particular attention was paid to the definition of an anti-fall system that would allow easy access to the roofs in total safety. Durante le fasi di sviluppo del progetto si è posta particolare attenzione alla definizione di un sistema anticaduta che consentisse un facile accesso alle coperture in totale sicurezza. Le due coperture sono collegate da corpi scale nel “canopy centrale”, ed è stata predisposta la linea vita di sicurezza su entrambe, quella in zintek®equella superioreche, vista lapresenza di una ampia superficie fotovoltaica, è stata dotata di un grigliato tecnico di accesso nella zona centrale e delle passerelle trasversali.
