101 LEVITAS VS GRAVITAS: una copertura “clever tech” sul lago Vittoria Professore ordinario Politecnico di Milano MARCO IMPERADORI Professor at the Milan Polytechnic LEVITAS VS GRAVITAS: a “clever tech” roof over Lake Victoria The newhospital in Entebbe, Uganda, on Lake Victoria, is the result of a meeting between two great contemporary personalities: Gino Strada and Renzo Piano. Two different characters and two different paths that, like the result of an inescapable positive chemical reaction, were drawn together and met for a common goal: a center of excellence for pediatric surgery in Africa. In fact, for many years, EMERGENCY’s mission has been to provide high quality care in the most abandoned places, tormented by wars and injustices. For the Entebbe hospital, this path meets the vision of Renzo Piano, who interprets architecture as a therapeutic source where beauty has a curative meaning for the universal right to health. Il nuovo ospedale di Entebbe, in Uganda sul lago Vittoria, nasce dall’incontro tra due grandi personalità contemporanee: Gino Strada e Renzo Piano. Due caratteri e due percorsi diversi che, come fosse il risultato di una ineluttabile reazione chimica positiva, si sono attratti e incrociati per un obbiettivo comune: un centro di eccellenza per la chirurgia pediatrica in Africa. Se infatti EMERGENCY ha da tantissimi anni la propria mission centrata sulla cura ad altissima qualità nei luoghi più abbandonati e martoriati da guerre e ingiustizie, ecco che questo percorso incontra, per l’ospedale di Entebbe, la vision di Renzo Piano che interpreta l’architettura come fonte terapeutica e in cui la bellezza ha un significato curativo per un diritto universale alla salute.
