The Prysmian Group Headquarters: the building envelope and work spaces, organized by Zintek, was held in the Milan Prysmian Group Headquarters on Friday, February 15th 2019.
The goal of the event was to present and promote the project behind the new headquarters of Prysmian S.p.A., a leading company in the cables and energy and telecommunications sector, which, thanks to an important requalification effort, has transformed a complex of old buildings located in the former Milan Bicocca industrial area into a cutting edge structure.
The main subjects involved in the project took turns in speaking to a completely packed auditorium, following the coordination of Marco Imperadori, a professor from the Milan Polytechnic.
The conference was inaugurated by Andrea Pirondini, COO of the Prysmian Group, who presented the company and the role held by Prysmian as the client behind the development of the new headquarters. Next, Paolo Mazzoleni, President of the Milan Architects’ Association, underlined the importance of the collaboration between industry and professional associations, an argument further highlighted by Anna Buzzacchi, President of the Venice Architects’ Association.
The next speaker was Gianni Schiavon, CEO of Zintek, who greeted the attendants and briefly introduced the firm and its role in the project, before launching an institutional video.
During the second part of the conference, Antonio Traversi, Real Estate director for Prysmian, went over the key elements of the project development, from the design phase to the actual construction site, while Maurizio Varratta, who designed the building, illustrated its peculiarities in detail, focusing in particular on the choice of zintek® for some parts of the building roofing solutions and highlighting how the material “came alive” after being installed.
In closing, Marco Imperadori dedicated an in-depth technical-functional analysis to the roofing solutions, raising the interest of the many architects and professionals attending the event.
After the speeches, all attendants were given a copy of the precious volume Prysmian Headquarters, developed by Zintek and dedicated to this project.
After exiting the auditorium, attendants were divided into groups and accompanied to visit the headquarters, an opportunity to observe up close the technological solutions implemented for both exterior covering solutions and interiors, with the original division of the work areas that represents the true strength of the headquarters.
The day ended with refreshments organised in one of the large tree-lined greenhouses: a pleasant opportunity to meet other attendants and enjoy an exchange of ideas.

The Prysmian Auditorium will welcome speeches by Andrea Pirondini, COO of Prysmian Group; Paolo Mazzoleni, President of the Milan Architects’ Association; Anna Buzzacchi, President of the Venice Architects’ Association; Gianni Schiavon, CEO of Zintek; Maurizio Varratta, architect and author of the project; Antonio Traversi, Real Estate Director for Prysmian, and Marco Imperadori, professor in the Milan Polytechnic, who will also act as moderator of the conference.
After the speeches, attendants will be accompanied to visit the headquarters and given a precious volume dedicated to the project, featuring technical drawings and a rich iconographic accompaniment.
