Ridges
—
The ridge is a line of the roof, the shape and dimensions of which must maintain a correct aesthetic ratio while simultaneously meeting functional requirements.
In ventilated roofs, the ridge point plays a key role for ventilation of the roof: the correct functioning of the ventilation gap largely depends on the efficiency of these openings.
The ventilated gap openings are located at the foot and at the highest point of the pitch.
VENTILATION FROM EAVES EDGES
In the case of buildings with flat roofs < 5° (< 9%), ventilation can be carried out on at least two opposite edges of the roof, keeping in mind the length of the pitch (max. 8 m), the position of the building, wind conditions and the height of the ventilated gap. The recommended height of the spacing is min. 8 cm.
TECHNICAL NOTE:
The air inlet and output openings for ventilation (eaves and ridge areas) must feature free transversal sections with at least half of the transversal ventilation section of the roof spacing tilted, but at least 2 ‰ of the roof area.
